Frequently Asked Questions
How does the Tappy Pillow work?
Our sleep companions feature a gentle, rhythmic patting module nestled inside their soft plush arms. Designed to mimic the natural, comforting touch of a parent’s hand, the gentle patting helps calm fussy babies and ease naptime transitions.
Are the hands weighted?
Yes! Our companions feature gently weighted paws. This provides a subtle, grounded pressure—similar to a parent resting a reassuring hand on a baby's chest or tummy.
How do I set up and use my Tappy companion?
- Activate the Remote Control: Pull out and discard the clear plastic tab from the battery compartment on the back of the wireless remote to activate power.
- Switch On the Internal Unit: Unzip the hidden, child-proof zipper on your plush companion. Locate the internal patting module nestled inside the hand/paw and toggle the power switch to the ON position.
- Position Comfortably: Place your Tappy companion next to your baby during their supervised settling routine, ensuring the weighted paw rests gently on your baby's chest or tummy.
- Control via Remote: Use the wireless remote to start, pause, or turn off the rhythmic patting motion. You can also adjust the rhythm to match your baby's needs by pressing the Up and Down arrows to increase or decrease the patting speed—all without disturbing your baby.
- Turn Off After Use: Once your baby is calm and settled, switch the patting off using the remote. Always remember to toggle the physical switch on the internal hand module to OFF when you are done to preserve battery life between uses.
Is the Tappy Pillow safe for unsupervised sleep?
No. In line with official safe sleep guidelines (such as the NHS and The Lullaby Trust), infants under 12 months should sleep on a clear, flat, firm mattress without loose objects or soft toys. The Tappy Pillow is designed strictly as a supervised settling aid. Once your baby falls asleep, gently remove the plush companion from the cot before leaving the room.
How do I wash my Tappy companion?
- Unzip the hidden, child-proof zipper.
- Remove the internal electronic module from inside.
- Wash the outer plush cover in the washing machine on a gentle cycle.
- (Never submerge the electronic module in water).
How do I preserve the battery life?
Always toggle the physical switch on the internal hand module to OFF when you are done using the product. Failing to do this will leave the internal module on standby, which drains the battery over time.
